1. About LifeWise

LifeWise is a free online learning platform offering practical courses in health, business, faith, technology, and personal development for learners across Asia and beyond.
LifeWise is an initiative and is operated by Hope Channel Philippines, the organization responsible for deciding how your personal information is collected and used.
This Privacy Policy applies to our website, LifeWise mobile applications that link to this policy, and communications with our team.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated when you use our services.
Account and profile information
This includes your name, email address, login credentials, and optional profile details or photograph.
Learning information
This includes course enrollments, lesson progress, assessment responses, scores, submitted work, and completion records, depending on the features you use.
Communications and contributions
This includes support requests, feedback, reviews, discussion posts, and other information you voluntarily submit.
Technical and usage information
This may include your IP address, browser and device information, operating system, pages visited, interactions with the platform, access times, and security logs.
Analytics information
Google Analytics collects information about how visitors interact with LifeWise, such as page views, session activity, device and browser characteristics, approximate location, and cookie or similar identifiers.
All LifeWise courses are free. Payment card details are not required to enroll.

3. Why We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:
Create and manage your account.
Provide access to courses and learning materials.
Save your progress and administer assessments.
Respond to questions and provide support.
Send verification emails, password resets, and essential service notices.
Maintain security, investigate misuse, and troubleshoot problems.
Understand how the platform is used and improve its content and usability.
Meet applicable legal obligations.
Information necessary to provide an account or course feature must be supplied to use that feature. Optional information is not required for basic access.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.

4. Grounds for Processing

Depending on the purpose and applicable law, we process information to provide services you request, meet legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests where permitted, or act on your consent.
For example, we use account details to deliver the learning services you request and technical logs to protect the platform.
Some information, including education records, health information, and religious beliefs, may be considered sensitive personal information. We process such information only where a specific legal basis permits it, including explicit consent where required.
Using LifeWise or reading this policy does not automatically constitute consent to every type of processing. Where consent is required, we request it separately.

5. Google Analytics and Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and resources visitors use and to improve the learning experience.
Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. Information generated through these technologies is transmitted to Google for processing. Google’s handling of information depends on the services, settings, and permissions involved.

We use essential cookies for functions such as signing in, maintaining sessions, and protecting accounts. We request consent before activating nonessential analytics cookies where required by applicable law.
You can manage or withdraw analytics consent through our cookie preferences control. You can also manage cookies through your browser or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on in supported browsers. The add-on does not disable all website logging or tracking by other services.
Declining optional analytics cookies does not prevent you from accessing free courses.
We do not send names, email addresses, assessment responses, or sensitive health or religious information to Google Analytics.

6. Emails and Ministry Communications

We send essential emails needed to operate your account, including verification messages, password resets, security alerts, and important service updates.
Optional newsletters, course promotions, and ministry communications require a separate subscription or other applicable permission. You may unsubscribe using the link in those messages or by contacting privacy@lifewise.asia.
Unsubscribing from optional communications does not cancel your account or course access.

7. Who Can Access Your Information

Information is available only to authorized people and service providers that need it for the purposes described in this policy.
Recipients may include:
LifeWise administrators and support staff, to operate the platform and assist learners.
Relevant instructors, where access is necessary to administer courses, assess work, or support learning.
Vultr, which provides hosting infrastructure for LifeWise.
Google, which provides Google Analytics.
Email delivery and technical service providers, where needed to send service messages or maintain the platform.
We limit provider access to what is appropriate for their role and use suitable contractual or other safeguards.
We do not share learner contact details with ministry partners or affiliated organizations for their independent outreach without separate permission or another applicable legal basis.
We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary and lawful to protect people, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights.

8. Public Content and Third-Party Services

If you post a review, comment, or discussion contribution in a public area, your contribution and associated display name may be visible to others.
Please do not post medical records, financial account details, identification documents, passwords, or other sensitive information in public areas.
We request permission before using your feedback or photograph in promotional testimonials.
Courses may include external links or embedded services, such as video players. When you interact with these services, their providers may receive technical information and apply their own privacy policies.

9. International Processing

LifeWise serves learners in multiple countries. Our hosting and service providers may process information in countries outside your country of residence.
Privacy laws in those countries may differ from local laws. Where international transfers require safeguards, we use appropriate measures, such as contractual protections and restrictions on provider access and use.

10. How Long We Keep Information

Our retention schedule is:
Account and learning records: While your account remains active and the records are needed to provide your learning history. After a verified deletion request is approved, we aim to remove these records from active systems within 30 days.
Support correspondence: Up to 12 months after a request is resolved, unless further retention is necessary for an ongoing issue or legal obligation.
Routine security and access logs: Up to 90 days, unless needed to investigate an incident or meet legal requirements.
Google Analytics user-level and event-level data: A 14-month retention setting, with user-identifier retention reset on new activity disabled. Deletion follows Google’s processing schedule. This setting does not apply to standard aggregated reports.
Backup copies: Deleted records may remain in restricted backups for up to 90 days before those backups expire or are overwritten.
Records may be retained longer where required by law or necessary for a specific dispute or security investigation. Such records are restricted to that purpose.
Information that has been irreversibly anonymized may be retained for statistical reporting.

11. Security

We protect personal information through measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, secure credential handling, software maintenance, and protected backups.
No website or application can guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login details confidential and report suspected unauthorized access to privacy@lifewise.asia.
Where a security incident requires notification, we notify affected individuals and relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.

12. Your Rights and Account Deletion

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
Understand how your information is processed.
Request access to your personal information.
Correct inaccurate or incomplete records.
Request deletion, blocking, or restriction of processing.
Object to certain uses of your information.
Withdraw consent for consent-based processing.
Receive eligible information in a portable format.
Complain to a relevant privacy authority or seek available remedies.
To make a request, email privacy@lifewise.asia. For account deletion, use the subject line “LifeWise Account Deletion Request” and contact us from your registered email address where possible.
We may request proportionate information to verify your identity. We will explain any lawful reason that prevents us from fulfilling a request in full.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Deleting your account may permanently remove access to your saved learning progress.
You may raise concerns with the Philippine National Privacy Commission or another competent privacy authority.

13. Children and Young Learners

Children may use LifeWise only where permitted by applicable law and with parent or guardian involvement and consent where required.
We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information without the permissions required by applicable law.
If you believe a child has provided information without required permission, contact privacy@lifewise.asia. We will investigate and take appropriate action, which may include restricting the account or deleting the information.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our services, practices, or legal obligations change.
The effective date will identify the latest version. Where required, we will provide additional notice of significant changes and obtain fresh consent before processing information for a new purpose that requires it.
